Parenting Teens Programme

Attention Parents:

Are you parenting an adolescent with an intellectual disability? Join our Parents Plus 'Special Needs Programme' and meet other parents in a supportive group to help your adolescents reach their full potential.

Parents Plus is an Irish charity that develops practical, evidence-based parenting programmes. They train professionals working with families to deliver the programmes. They have developed a pilot special needs adolescents programme. Aoife Gaffney and Helena in DSI have been selected to participate in this pilot and will receive facilitator training so they can deliver the programme. As it's a pilot, it will be evaluated for effectiveness, research will be conducted by TCD. More information here:

https://www.parentsplus.ie/post/parents-plus-special-needs-programme-seminar-launch-of-pilot-programme/

DSI will be running a parents group for 2/2.5 hours for 7 weeks in either Autumn 2019 or Spring 2020. We will aim the course at parents of 16-23 yr (flexible depending on members needs).
